Non-profit, and non-partisan, we offer pragmatic ideas that break free of economic philosophies born in eras long before the first punch card computer and well before the rise of modern China. ITIF, founded in 2006, is dedicated to conceiving and promoting the new ways of thinking about technology-driven productivity, competitiveness, and globalization that the 21st century demands.

The Breakthrough Institute is a paradigm-shifting think tank committed to modernizing liberal thought for the 21st Century. At the Breakthrough Institute, our goal is to accelerate the transition to a future where all the world’s inhabitants can enjoy secure, free, prosperous, and fulfilling lives on an ecologically vibrant planet. Since 2003, Breakthrough has been best known as a leading independent public policy think tank and pioneering advocate of an innovation-centered approach to national and global energy and climate challenges. In 2009, the Institute expanded its reach to include national security policy with a focus on counter-terrorism. Founded by Ted Nordhaus and Michael Shellenberger, authors of ”The Death of Environmentalism” and Break Through, the Institute is based in Oakland, California.
